Steve's Mac mini setup
This is my second mini, I bought a 1.25GHz right when they came out and had to sell it. I had an iBook for a while and have considered new iMacs, but the Mac mini has the best form factor of all Macs.

- Mac mini 1.42GHz
- SuperDrive, Airport, Bluetooth
- 20" Apple Cinema Display
- Bluetooth keyboard and mouse
- Epson R800
- Sony Ericsson Z520a
- Nausicaa pencil case

I heart my Mac mini.

I love Bluetooth, wireless cleans up the appearance of the Mac and the workspace. I just wish they made the Mighty Mouse in Bluetooth. Nice system.

somebody's been going to IKEA

The speakers are behind the display. They don't look or sound very good, so I tuck them away. I would be first in line for a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse! I love the one-button mouse and all, but I need to scroll. PS: IKEA kicks ass!

Love the setup and.... GOTTA LOVE THE JERKER DESK!

lol at ecking! I remember accompanying a friend to Ikea, he found a comp desk he liked, and we burst out laughing in the middle of the store at its name like little school kids. The Jerker!

Gorgeous setup! Your desktop background / wallpaper brings it all to life! Where did you find it?
Steve [May 03, 2006 at 02:48 AM]
I found it on Deviant art a long time ago. I've had it as a desktop forever.

Hey, I've seen so many PowerPC Mini's with the 20'' Apple Display - any negative fedd-back what so ever regarding compatibility? I'm talking graphic card vs. display....
Steve [May 04, 2006 at 03:01 AM]
Hi Greg, my 20" runs just fine on the mini. The only thing I can think of as a negative is that the 9200 chokes on all but the simplest games. The display can definately handle more than what the 9200 can dish out.

Steve! Thanks for the answer, I'm not a gamer at all. I just thought the display might be to strong for the graphic card, i.e. higher load on the graphic chip resulting in higher temperatures and maybe increased cooling fan activity...
Steve [May 05, 2006 at 10:52 PM]
Hmm... well it runs considerably better with 1GB of RAM for sure. My fan only turns on when using the optical drive. If graphics is a concern, try to find a stealth mini with a 64mb GPU.

Thanks! My Mini actually has 1GB of RAM... I still haven't decided yet, wether I should get the 20'' display or not. Last question ... which resolution are you using?
Anon [May 08, 2006 at 04:22 AM]
I use the standard 1680x1050. It's really much bigger in use than when you see it on display. I use a 17" at work and came from a 12" iBook. Huge difference!

nice setup.
